Bolo de Claras com calda de Laranja e Vinho do Porto
You can indulge in dessert without being guilty (if you are calorie concerned). This is a very light and full of flavor dessert.
When prepared in advance gives it a deeper and richest flavor together with some extra moist, besides making your life easier.
A perfect dessert cake for an after meal treats and not just for tea time. Entertaining is easy!
Ingredients:
· 300g Sugar
· 80g Butter, Unsalted
· 8 Egg Whites
· 200 g Flour
· 1 Tbsp Baking powder
· Lemon rind
Syrup:
- 2 Oranges, juice
- ¼ cup Port Wine ( Dessert wine)
- 150g Sugar
Preparation:- 2 Oranges, juice

1. Pre-heat the oven to 150ºC.
2. Mix the sugar and butter in a bowl. Stir well until creamy and pale.
3. In a separate bowl, beat the egg whites until medium peaks form.
4. With a metallic whisk, mix the egg whites into the sugar and butter mixture, take care to avoid breaking the whites and consequent volume lost.
5. Mix the baking powder and lemon rind with thef flour and pour into the previous mix, using your hands to blend in.
6. Pour in a flour coated mold and bake in preheated oven for 35 minutes or until done.
8. Let it cool down in the mold for a few minutes, and then turn into a serving plate.
9. For the Syrup: Mix all the ingredients in a sauce pan and let them boil for 5 minutes, when cold, drizzle over the top of the cake.
10. Garnish with orange slices.
11. Refrigerate several hours or overnight.
